System Tray Icon

SmoothSurfin' can be configured to start automatically when Windows is started and sits quietly in your System Tray, consuming very little resources, vigilantly standing guard against the ever-strengthening onslaught of annoying pop-up advertising windows that seem to be taking over the Web; allowing smooth, peaceful surfing at all times. No complicated setup or configuration, just consistent and efficient pop-up protection from the time it is installed and started at a fraction of the cost of most other pop-up blocking utilities.

Unlike other pop-up eliminators, SmoothSurfin' indiscriminately targets and terminates any browser window it finds that attempts to open from within one that is already open.

New IE Context Menu Item

You can allow links to open in new windows at any time, ONLY if you so desire, by holding down the program's special user-defined "Bypass Hotkey" (either Control or Shift) or clicking IE's new "Open in New Window (Bypass SmoothSurfin')" context menu item (added during program installation). You can also toggle the program's "Pop-ups Disabled/Enabled" status by one of several quick and convenient shortcuts.

This aggressive approach ensures that almost every single unwanted pop-up browser window is stopped dead in its tracks before it sees the light of day.

Internet Explorer Toolbar Button

Pop-ups can be disabled or enabled quickly and conveniently by one of several shortcuts including a user-defined hotkey combination, the program's System Tray icon right-click menu, or optionally by double-clicking its System Tray icon. Also, installation of the program adds a new SmoothSurfin' button to Internet Explorer's toolbar. Via this button you can either start the program or if it is already running, toggle the program's "Pop-ups Disabled/Enabled" status conveniently while browsing.

SmoothSurfin' indicates at all times whether pop-ups are enabled or disabled by the color of it's System Tray icon: green for enabled and red for disabled.

New in this version of SmoothSurfin' is the ability to add specific urls as well as complete domains to the program's "whitelists" which will allow any windows containing pages with urls or which are located on domains contained in these lists to open uninhibited.

The program also keeps a log file of the urls of pages in all pop-up windows it closes so that you can go back and view them to see if you missed anything important and even add the urls or domains of those pages to the "whitelists" with just a few clicks, all from the program's "Log and Whitelist Management" dialog available through program options.

Also featured is the ability to play a sound, animate its System Tray Icon, and/or briefly show a small, icon-sized, flashing indicator in the upper-left corner of your screen when a pop-up is closed reminding you that the program is doing its job. In addition, the program can play a sound when you use the special user-defined hotkey combination to toggle "Pop-ups Disabled/Enabled" letting you know that the action was successful in case your Taskbar is out of view.
